So many people in these companied think of individuals "under" you as mere monny-making numbers to achaive your quotas. With the pressure from your uppers, it is not made easy to have a truthful human element in your work... as you are encouraged to make "names and numebrs lists" and bug people.

I have a hard time thinking that I am above or below anyone else. This said, the business model of most MLM companies is brilliant. Your experience just depends on the intentions of the people you are working with and yourself- there are people out there trying to just "up their numbers" and there are people looking to help others and make a fair income for themselves.

I recently began with Isagenix- which is a cellular cleansing product. I like that the ingredients are mostly vegan and organic, and that it promoted cleansing your body of toxins. I really just use it myself and don't promote it much... but have had people want to use it since my boyfriend and I have lost weight and feel much better about clenasing from the unavoidable toxins in our air, water, and food.
Congrats, you've recently became a customer of your parent company. Good luck selling a product that competes against tons of other MLMs.

They are brilliant... for the ones who own them of course, I know someone who sells isagenix try and get someone to purchase pills and mineral drinks from you... not easy. Owning an MLM is brilliant because the owners are set, they tempt people in becoming their employees but rather than being an employee your actually their customer... giving them a guaranteed payment on their wholesale product plus a little profit made from your sales and of course... your 'pyramid of friends'.

I laugh at those who are part of a MLM and consider themselves a business owner... your nothing more than a sales representative.

Oh yeah Congrats on the weight loss! I hope those pills you chow down on and mineral drinks you slurp up taste good! Cause it looks like you be on it for the rest of your life (like any other 'health' product)...mmmmm! yummy!

As for me, I'll stick to the good ol' exercise and healthy eating.

Janay is a perfectly good reason to why people hate MLM's. They market their products through marketing themselves and cant help to sneak in "it works for me" comments when talking about it.. and think about it.. are you really going to use this crap for the rest of your life?... be honest

That's true cdeneire...I agree with you, for the most part...
I think there's a difference in some companies though...take mine for instance.
I work with Ignite, a marketing arm for Stream Energy, the fastest growing company since Google. Since Ignite is only a marketing arm, there's no "top people getting all the profit". First of all, we sell one product, energy. Everybody uses it, so you don't ever have to sell it. And yes, I am and will use it for the rest of my life...

I definitely would not say that "business owner" would be a good term to use for an MLM. I would say "business manager" because there is no ownership in it, just like cdeneire said.

Lol, I have to through this in there...

I believe a lot of people arent successful at MLM's are because they realize
    1. they dont own their own business
    2. they have to recruit people instead of sell
    3. they dont believe in the business
    4. they are not the people at the top
    5. they do not work hard enough

I want to start my own MLM so if anybody wants to help me do this PM me and we can come up with some ideas to be the people at the top.

Even though I am part of an mlm system, I must say I hate it... not because it doesnt work, the mlm system works IF: 1) You don't advertise the way other MLM'ers advertise (mlm is all about networking with like-minded people, NOT spamming people and trying to convince them to join, because that is just plain dumb and annoying) 2) You should try and apply it to a service you are providing that is your own, and your not just a meer minion of some big mlm business trying to take credit for someone else's business. The mlm i joined basically generates money by getting people in the system to sign up for free tools, like firefox and google toolbar, so useful things, that add up to generate you money.

Everytime I go on the internet, I see all the mlm offers and so on, and all the noobs under these mlms doing the same bloody thing, I can see why this annoys most of you, it annoys me too... They are not real entrepreneurs, just spammers, they don't care about their network, just money. But hopefully with my free mlm and other things my blog offers, hopefully I can help change that... Tenacious dream i know... But dreams are free =)

The most retarded thing about mlm advertising in my opinion, is that people in mlm's are given ideas, or places to advertise in... Just imagine 50,000 people in the same mlm advertising in one place... great for the mlm owner... but not so great for the 50,000 people. Yet these people, fail to see the error in this logic. I hope you don't despise me for being in an mlm! =) I see it as a potentially powerful tool to use alongside with my business of helping people make money for free =)
I would love to have you as a part of my growing team.

the truth about mlm is that it puts you in a position in which you are forced to test your self and most people don't like that. if you have an understanding of marketing and you have good leadership and teaching skills combined with a mlm company that is solid you can blow it out the park I've seen people do it. No with that said even the best longest lasting till this date mlms don't know hot to promote or build they just us what people (up line) did years ago that doesn't apply tooooo you guest it YOUNG ENTREPENUERS! with all the technology and social marketing we already do if you learn how to harnest these things it impossible for it not to work. also poeple hate as well because they here so many bads things about it. MLM can be taught but you all are right in saying that a lot of people shouldn't be doing it. no so much because they don't belong in business as much as they are not ready to mentally and have the true knowledge needed to be successful mlms for the most part give you the impression that its turn key and theres only one path to promote and take it from some who knows if you question up line the get bent out of shape. you really just have to do your own thing and take what they did that still works and innovate what didn't work or no longer applies.

But for people who a truly interested in a person who seems to be started a revelution doing exactly what i talking about in this forum google the renigade network market I'm sure you be impressed

The idea of mlm have gotten a bad rap over the years. The idea of viral marketing is one alot of companies do. Has your favorite restaurant or bar ever sent you a check for you telling someone about there place beacuse maybe they serve a steak to die for.

The concept is brilliant and the only way they will stay around for years to come like Mary kay, Avon, Amway, and the heath and wellness companies is with top of the line legal dept that makes sure they are doing legal business and top of the line training.

I am a business owner myself. I am partners with my father in an advertising company. But am also proud so say i am in Network Marketing. After reading books from Robert Kiosocki, Donald Trump, Paul Pilzner i knew in oder to keep more money in my pocket i need to own my own home baced business. At the end of the year not including my profits i put about another 10k in my pocket after taxes.

So if your saying they dont work i suggest doing some research into a legitimate company with good integrity and you might thank me one day.

Sorry guys, I don't agree with you! I love network marketing and in the short amount of time, with no experience, it has made me a very sucessful person. Angelforums is right, everything is network marketing...and everything is a pyramid. If you have a boss, you are in the worst kind of pyramid scheme. Network marketing allows you to make more then the person above you, below you....no limits. Its amazing!

Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki are big supporters of network marketing. When they talk or give advice - I LISTEN. I have a 45 audiobook of Robert Kiyosaki on MLM that I can e-mail anybody who is interested in his two cents.

As entreprenuers, I am suprised to hear some of the negative stuff that you guys have to say about it. I was in the rat race, supressed by office politics UNTIL I got into network marketing.

It is definitely not a get rich scheme, I've worked harder then I've ever had to get to where I am at now. That choice is simply up to you.

So if you are wondering what I am doing and what has been the answer to my financial dreams, check out: paycationexperts.com. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

    Thanks all!

If you don't like MLM...you haven't seen Send Out Cards yet. Our typical day does not include inviting friends or family...I don't even do presentations or go to hotel meetings. This MLM is so easy compared to most. All I do is send people real greeting cards...cool features...they respond and ask me about the business. One thing about other MLM companies that causes so many to fail is the sales part. Well...I teach distributors how to market their products/services and business opportunity...the ones that do the best have no MLM experience.

If you still think MLM isn't a legitimate business model...you're old school. There's a huge difference between MLM and Pyramid Schemes. Quite frankly, I'd rather be in this business while most people haven't caught on yet. That's where fortunes are made anyway...when you position yourself in front of the trend. To all those who love MLM...power to you...you absolutely are on the right path...remember...there's no such thing as failure in MLM...you cannot fail...you can only quit!!!

For those who hate MLM...one day you'll be in my organization when you've burnt out in Corporate America. Until then, good luck climbing that ladder...mine is moving a lot quicker!

Maybe...but that depends on you. If you need help...go pick up a book by Don Failla called "The 45 Second Presentation" and read the first 5-6 chapters (short read)...or sign up for a free account on my website...the one that has 398 in it and I'll send you a copy of Success Magazine where Robert Kiyosaki explains what Network Marketing (AKA MLM) is all about.

Other than that...it's up to you to research the MLM industry.

wow, this topic is making a few ppl upset lol. well, personally I've done the mlm thing in the past and didn't succeed because i don't like saling things and didn't know how to sale things at that time. I prefer to get paid by referring ppl for free w/out saling things. there are so many ppl that have tried mlm and didn't make a dime but whoever brought those ppl into the game sure got paid off of them. However there are some that do make a lil money doing it. Those natural born sellers have a better chance in succeeding in mlm than others.
They're workin' hard but I'm hardly workin'
