Website partnering - ?????????
hi everyone,
in starting my web business, i became curious at the notion of partnering with other websites/businesses. for instance, i want to include news (relevant to the topic of my website) that will be updated daily. i obviously do not have the resources to provide this info, however how would i go about partnering with another website and have them provide this (noting that the info is from them). AND, is partnering a realistic option for a relatively new website?
as well, i am going to need a TREMENDOUS amount of information for my website. so much in fact that i will not be able to a) possibly compile it myself, or b) have the know-how on how to get it all on my website. how can i go about asking for permission to use facts, descriptions, and locations of certain places (and information on these locations) yet having it appear as though this information is a product of my website?
**the closest example i can come up with is say Frommer's travel guides. how do they get all of their information (SO much of it) without having to apparently license it all? i mean they are using facts and figures, private businesses, contact information of various locations, etc. and they are publishing it ALL, both online and in their guides.
any insight on this would be especially helpful!!!

You can take numbers/facts (ie. the address of the Empire State Building) from most government sites without being sued.
However, if you copy and paste text from other sites, that's illegal. Its very easy to find copied material on the Internet.
The third option is to write it yourself. Or if your writing skills aren't descriptive, hire a writer to do it.

Same as above. They get basic information for free, but they still have to write their own descriptions/text, or pay someone else to do it.

From what you've described, you wouldn't even need to partner with a site - what you seem to be describing is RSS feeds. For instance using an RSS feeder and this url http://www.rogueconnect.com/connecti...S2.0&no_html=1 would allow you to display all the news from my online dating venture on your own site.
You could edit it and style it as you saw fit and provide updated headlines, descriptions etc. as the chosen news source updated. Áll you'd have to do is find the news source that best suits your chosen field.

you should check places like isyndicate (I forget what they're called now, but isyndicate.com will probably take you there. Moreover.com and places like that are good to check too.
