Thinking About Billboard Franchise

Right now I'm in college and I have been thinking about starting a billboard franchise through Billboard Connection. It seems flexible and not too costly to start. I live in the NY/NJ area and I'm not too sure if this will be a good market to start in because of all the big corps that own billboard space.

If anyone has had any experience with this industry or with this franchise and would like to give me some insight I would appreciate it.

Thanks

Ya billboards in the NY/Nj area are tough since you have to compete with a ton of huge companies Viacom for one. I dont mean to discourage you though if they offer a good franchise that provides good training and materials and it's not expensive to you it could be worth it. I currently work in media and it's not an easy business when your dealing with larger companies since they want a track record and they already have established relationships and Viacom can basically provide almost any media outlet to them. Your better off starting up something new in media since new and effective will yeild high profits

if you have any other media questions ever please feel free to PM me i'd be glad to help

Yea I totally understand. I drive down the Turnpike and every billboard is either Viacom, CBS, or Clear Channel owned. Their web site makes it seem like they give franchisees a fair amount of training and help them out with starting...but they might just be trying to make a sell. Thanks for your advise.

I actually just sent you an e-mail for the publication franch. you posted a few days ago.

Awesome thanks for the email, and again billboards area rough area but an idea i have looked into for it is selling the billboards to CBS, Viacom and alike. You'd have to travel some major highways and contact people normally farmers who live on the road and try and purcahse plots of land in up and coming areas.
