Software development. Any freelancers?
Hi.
I get a lot of inquiries about custom software solutions. I had another one today and am looking for a freelancer/company that would like to get involved with it and with future projects. At the moment I don't really market custom software, but if I can develop some solid relationships I will push this side of my business...
The client provided some introductory information which I'll post below.
Let me know if you're interested.
Quote:
The software is required for a project called the ####### Court Competition. First a brief background of the running of the competition is necessary to understand the request for such a customised programme.
This competition brings together on average 70 faculty of law teams from across the continent. Each team is composed of 2 students and 1 lecturer. There are 3 language groups (anglophone, francophone, lusophone) represented at the competition. The students argue in rounds which oppose one faculty team as applicant against another faculty team as respondent with the lecturers acting as judges as though they were in front of the African Court on Human and People's Rights. Preliminary rounds occur simultaneously and separately in English, French and Portuguese. The final round regroups proportionately the best teams in each language group which by draw of lots are reconstituted into 2 teams one as applicant and one as respondent to argue before a bench of eminent world renown jurists who serve as judges on the Constitutional Court of South Africa, International Criminal Court, or members of the African Union, African Commission on People and Human Rights and other human rights institutions serve a judges. Simultaneous translation is provided.
We require this software:
1. to capture all the participants pre-registration information fed from online (our website) source and organise them in a spreadsheet format
2. to capture actual registration at the event using touch-screen input method
3. to arrange and sort the teams in pairs of applicant vs respondent in a manner that teams will not appear in front of their own lecturer in a court room
4. to aggregate scores of all the rounds and teams and rank them from highest to lowest to determine best teams and automatically determine the teams that will appear in the final round
5.to capture evaluation form data from participants

Dylan,
My name is Pramod Pillai and I own a software development firm in the USA called Technoshire Systems, Inc. I can help you with the "court competition" application. To give you a background I have 11 years of IT software development/consulting experience.
If you are interested let me know and we can discuss how to move forward.

Hi Pramod. Thanks for your response.
As I mentioned before, this is a new area of business for me... so I'm unsure of what procedures one usually follows.
I guess you would need some more info before we can move forward?
Feel free to PM me... or email me via my website.
I also welcome the response of others. If not for this project, then for those that may arise in the near future.

Dylan,
I unfortunately do not have any experience programming for touch screen applications so I will not be able to be much use to you on this project. But if you do get future opportunities keep me in mind. I have a Bachelors degree in software development form Purdue and work currently developing php web appliciations for a medical managament company and my own startup.
Thanks
Adam

Hey Adam...
I still have to talk to the client about their budget and get more details about their requirements. At this stage I'm not sure if touch screen technology etc would be feasable (within budget). For now I'm just trying to gather enough interest and info...
I would definately be interested in working with you on future projects. I'll check out your sites quickly

Sounds Great. If you need an example of some scripts I have written instant message me on aim with minime9443 or on msn with ajm@creadiv.com. Alot of the stuff I have written has confidential info in it so I can't show them to you, but I will link you to something.

Hi Dylan,
I have recently started my own web graphics & development firm along with customised Software development on .Net framework. I am computer engineer with 3 years of experience and have recently quit my software development job to start up my own thing.
If you find my profile suitable for this software then I would like to move ahead. Also, even if I don't fit in this scenario I will be glad to have a long term association for future projects.
Thanks,
Anurag Sharma
