very simple concept, and could work very easily with some dedication.

if you make a simple search site (i.e. i made tostito.com which you can look at as an example, it took me 3 minutes to make) and you get people to dedicatedly use that site as their search engine you can rake in the dough.


here is my proposition. i am looking for 4 partners. i will make a simple search site like tostito.com and each partner has to get 3 people to dedicatedly use that search site as their primary search engine. if each of those 3 people you get can then get 3 people and so on and so forth pretty soon you have a few hundred people using the site daily, and it could get much larger then that if we find some sort of angle to make other people use it too.

if we can make $100/day at the end of a year we'll have made $365k divided by us 5 partners will be $70k each approx. maybe even throw an adsense ad or two onto the site and something else to maximize our $$$$.


so the hard part of the idea is getting 3 people to commit to use the site as their sole search engine. maybe a parent, a sibling, a friend or two, etc...

idea is ridiculously simple. any takers?

i don't know much about it but I am willing to learn. I would like to pose the question that if it is such a simple source of income how come its not a more frequent online business avenue? Also how will it compete with google?

I guess I can give it a test run and see where it starts going. You can count me in.

it can be a simple source of income. the problem like i mentioned is getting people to use it. like i asked a friend of mine to use tostito.com and he was like "why" and i told him that i would make money, and he got kinda jealous like why should he make me easy money. human nature i guess.

THAT is the hard part.

There needs to be a really good reason for them to even tell their friends to try it out. Telling friends to use it solely is a far cry.

i dont think you need a great reason. i mean people use primarily google or yahoo to search. if the site you make uses a google search bar then there is no difference in terms of performance between them using google or using your site and the google search bar. the results will be the same.

my idea is everyone should "hopefully" have 3 solid people that they can rely on to do them this favor. i know my mom, my brother, and my best friend will use my search site without question.

or maybe put something on the page that serves a niche market.

in the U.S. there are 50 states. if you can serve some sort of niche market and get 20 people per state to use your search bar that is 1,000 people. you'll be making some good $$$$ with 1,000 people using your search bar, and getting 20 people per state is a realistic goal. the only question would be what niche would you try to serve.

Just a quick heads up: If you make $100 a day, you'll make $36,500 (not $365,000!).

On the idea itself:
In theory, brilliant. And I agree there is potential to make money here. But in practice it would not be so simple to undertake. How can you be sure every person you personally recruit to use the site will get 3 others? And, what are you going to do to attract those people to use your site to search? Without an incentive, I doubt you'll get a lot of people voluntarily using your site to search - they may as well just use Google!
Now, don't get me wrong, the idea is good, but I don't think it has as much potential as you are making out unless you can offer an incentive to users or have a large marketing budget for the site. But hey, its worth giving it a damn good shot!

i agree, using google is the same as using my site.

the premise is you are asking people that you think would do this for you (i.e. a parent, a sibling, friends, etc...).

why would my brother use google to search when he can use my site, get the same results, and i (his brother) will benefit from it.

i think it would be impossible to get strangers to use it, but if using it is doing someone you know a 'favor' then why not...

what would your suggestion be to offer people an incentive?
maybe i can create another site and give them free access to it, not sure what kind of site i would need to create to give people incentive...
