    Online Sporting goods

Does anyone know if going into business online that sells clothing and shoes is worth the work? I plan on using my money that i have been saving up from my work in the fall to use as start up cash. I should have around 2 grand.

just to let you know, you'll probably need more than that. most of your costs will be going into inventory and stuff.

you should do your research to see how much products and how much you plan on carrying. As well as packaging costs, company related stuff, like printers, computers, web hosting, e commerce solutions, and things like that.

You'll see that there are a lot of costs associated with starting a business.
definitely do your research and then once you know all of your costs, see how much money you need and begin talking to family and friends.

in the end, you should see how much you can devote to this, and see if you are passionate about it b/c it's going to take some time to make any good amount of money.

    good luck!

Well i am pretty devoted right now. I am trying to raise money on my own incase i cant find a partner in this company. I think i have a legit guy, but he is a bit iffy.

How much money would you say is enough for start up?

do your budget and see what it will take to start your business and run it it for a few months, making sure that you will be able to have enough money to live off of, and then multiply it by 3 then take that number and round up.

in other words, its hard to say, but you can never have enough.

but its better to overshoot then to undershoot and thereby having to cease operations.

    Hi
Just happened to see that you are looking for Nike Shoes. Know for a fact that Nike does not go through whole salers. Stores work directly with the company. A requirement for being able to buy from Nike is that your store must be unique and offer some different then your competitors, which includes Nike itself if you are selling online.
    Good luck!

I'm not sure why you see Nike as such a bonus, but if having their stock is essential to your business is there any way that you could sell them at zero profit and then cross sell your other goods to make your income? I know Nike is popular, but I would have though niche brands would make better profits for small traders.

well i am not going to go down the path of selling fake name brand shoes. I am just using nike as an example. I would also like to sell, addidas, reebok, and lastly and1. I would be selling most likely shoes for sports with maybe some casual.
