networking

Does anyone belong to any successful networking groups? I've tried local Chamber of Commerce, BNI and others but had minimal success finding a group of like-minded individuals.

Does this board do any sort of offline networking events?

Hi David,

I am a member of BizPreneur which is a networking site. They have 2 meetings a week in an online conference room. These meetings are geared toward networking and are comprised of a good collection of like minded individuals.

What are the demographics of the user there? I'm looking for 25-40 yr old people that already have entrepreneurial experience and not just trying to scrape together $500 to launch a new website...

There are probably dozens of useful organizations in your area to belong to that will benefit your networking. You really just have to try to find things you are interested in. It's easier if you go non-profit... there is a non-profit org for everything.

Personally, I am a member of Young Professionals of Chicago (which has been very valuable), and also Non-profit Professionals Network of Chicago.

Josh, I live in the suburbs of chicago (far southwest - shorewood, plainfield, naperville) and the young professional groups out here are terrible. They are organized through the chamber of commerce and they are simply terrible.

Where is your YP chapter located? Is it through a chamber of commerce or a separate entity?
