    Not everyone knows how to:
    1) get funding (Im talking > $XXX,XXX)
    2) get the programming done
    3) design the site
    4) launch the site
    5) advertise the site
    6) continually monitor, improve, and develop the site

    So, for some people anyways, its much easier to sell the idea and make a quick buck. Also $5,000 can be 3+ years salary in some countries.
