looking for investment opportunities

Hey guys. I have about $10,000CND not doing much, and I want to invest it to make some gain for the future, as its the beginnings of my nest egg.

Suggestions/Ideas of low risk investments?

OK, if you're looking for low risk investments go to the bonds markets. Companies, per se, and more to the point, early stage start-ups are immensely risky, please run 1,000 miles at a fast pace from anyone trying to convince you that it is otherwise.

Risk is a comparable thing and you need to know the difference:

Low risk: government bonds, long-term savings accounts, etc
Medium risk: corporate bonds (some); fortune 500 stock, etc
High risk: Lower ranked stocks, financial derivatives, money markets, etc

Anything below these is regarded as higher than high risk; so be aware of those trying to say: "I have a low risk way to make money".
