I'm really open to any ideas...Real Estate is slow right now, and I finally have the time to invest in a 2nd business which I've wanted to do for the longest time...Not to mention some supplemental income would be fantastic...

But I think this way be the worst place to brainstorm...#1 very public, #2 sooooo many people, #3 no organization...

I have knowledge on import & export, contacts with manufacturing plants in china and container shipping to the states. Currently working on sunglass wholesale business by myself, and work for a sunglasses manufacturer.

In a market like todays, buy in bulk sell in bulk for a small markup. Profit margin can be huge! Already working on bringing in accounts such as WB Disney Warehouse ShoeSale to mention a few.

Also have a contact with a packaging and print service called BERT CO, who do the packaging for Disney movies.

Aside from the fact that you guys don't even know what the business is going to be about, there are so many challenges for something like this to begin with. Here are some that I can think of:

1. First of all, whos going to be in charge? There has to be a CEO. This brings a million problems in itself.. There has to be someone with ultimate authority / responsibility .

a) How will the CEO be selected ? and if no selection is to take place, in other words, someone on this threads just says "hey guys, I'm ceo!".. well, hows that gonna work. Most importantly, you need someone you can trust.

b) Is everyone invited into this and if not how will you filter? Obviously, like any company, you don't just hire someone because they want a job. And you don't hire someone because they talk a great game. You do background checks and you verify everything about them.

2. The co-op idea is terrible. The idea of everyone joining hands and playing hacky sack sounds good, but it wont work. There needs to be strong leadership and defined objectives through every level of management. You simply cant do something like this with people of all ages, skills, geographic locations and have it be jointly-owned. nuff said.

3. So who's going to write the business plan? Ideally this would be the CEO's job if one ever gets appointed. Having any more than 2 people write a business plan and you wont get anywhere.

4. How will the business get funded? With so many people involved this become a big legal issue. If everyone pays equal shares in funding, you basically have a co-op. If one person pays 80%+ of the funding, they will & probably should be in charge. If a loan from a bank is needed, whos going to sign for it. Who's going to put their OWN collateral up to get this off the ground.

5. What will this business do? It will have to be an internet service business that MOST of the people joining can be a part of in some meaningful way.

There are many more issues.
