Okay, I'm going to talk about getting the customer.
As I've noticed, finding suppliers is very, very easy. Are they good suppliers? Well, sorting the wheat from the chaff is naturally more difficult. One advantage we all have is that we are on the ground in different countries and not relying on contact from a distance to make our decisions. If we had to do that, it's a case of "hope and pray I don't get screwed," and that is definitely no way to get started.
A Chinese-based supplier, for example? Here I am, in China. I can pay a personal visit and do a due diligence. I know the questions to ask. I know what to look for. I can establish the bonafides from the supply side. That's an advantage we have, the capability to check things out personally - instead of just asking a Chinese supplier over the net "Can I trust you, dude?"
But the critical part is the demand side. It's all well and good to have a reliable supplier. But the other side involves:
a) Taking title to the goods and distributing them ourselves; or
b) Finding a local distributor and organising shipping to them
and finding the customers!
In either case, Export Management Companies will be responsible for shipping, labelling and sometimes advertising and packaging, regardless of who distributes the product. Remember, what an EMC does is find a market for the supplier's products. The supplier's involvement generally ends at the factory gate. To collect your commission, the products have to sell.

Further to that, we need to identify what we want to sell, find potential suppliers and then get our customers. We need to tell them what we have to offer.

Interesting. I would love to hear other peoples ideas on this, but this is something which would really interest myself. What i was thinking if selling was possibly newer technology etc?

I've read all the responses in [to] this thread, and it provokes me enough to express interest.
So...can someone recap what's happened and what has been agreed upon? Has an idea been seriously considered?

Anyone else, feel free to add me and discuss some ideas.

No ideas yet, eh?
Here's what everyone needs to do.
In order to come up with a feasible business idea, you need to clearly define a problem and generate a solution [the business idea].
So everyone stop what you're doing. Drop everything. Now...start posting problems that you see whether it's Internet related or something you observe in daily life. Then we can address those problems with feasible solutions.

Hey, I'm new here, but this sounds like a great idea (in fact, I signed up cause of this thread!). Can I get in on this or do you want more experienced forum members (which is understandable)?

Hey Crackah
I like the way you're thinking! Got anything in mind? I'd have to think about it - but just off the top of my head i do have something I am working on that could definitely work with the right people in the right places....
PS. watching Aus in the rugby? we gave the pommies a thrashing tonight!
Cheers,
dil
