I have always been interested in the idea of import export but I am rather confused about how to enter in to this field. Any one out there who could point me in the right direction? How much capital do you need to start up with? What product to import and export? Where to source product and where to sell? etc

Well your asking quite a broad question there Andrew, you need to read alot and learn alot before starting to import anything.

Thanks for the feed back, your blog makes for an interesting read mikey1205 and i appreciate the web site, I have not yet looked at it in detail but will in due time. One thing I would like to ask is; is eBay the only place to sell? In the blog you talk about drop shipping and about eBay but where else could one sell his/her imported goods online?

You will need a broker at the port and a bond which is determined by the value per container. typically $500- $1000 per year. It may take you 6 months to a year to structure eveything and recieve you first shipment. Figure $3000 in shipping. If your not ready for the big stuff try Neck ties or jewelery or somthing small that can go though regular mail. importing is more complicated than people think.
