    Idea Generation

I'm surprised not to see an ongoing idea generation thread here on the forums. Sure, giving up a great idea isn't exactly smart, but being able to view many more might work out...

Just a thought. I'm posting this because the business idea list YE has up hasn't been updated since 2003, iirc.

I'll start: a low cost, low %, credit card transaction service. I read one of the other threads on the forum and it listed a bunch of different services... they had monthly fees and rates ranged from 5-10% of the price. How about a better transaction processor that only charges a set 4% up to $2,000, then it is only 5%? No fees, just % of the charge. Would it work?

I like the idea; but don't credit card companies charge around 2%?

one of the things is that most ideas require their own post, so posting here would just be better suited for the URL to the idea's post. I have posted tons of ideas, just search through some of the old posts from me. Look for "free idea"

I currently have no ideas to give away, and only one small one for a new IT tool that I am looking in to pricing out production and patenting. If it turns out to be too much for me to mess with I will gladly give it away here.

Here's a great little site that I've been subscribed to for the past year or so. Idea-a-Day They send you a new idea each morning (or just about), that you're free to do with what you wish.

Heh, Starbucks on the moon. That leads me to an idea I had that Starbucks, and other could implement. A while back, Subway stopped its decade long promotion for free subs with stamps. The problem was counterfeiting. Grocery stores have these key chain customer loyalty cards. Why not use these for the promotions? It is all kept in a databse, updates are printed on every receipt, and you can determine if local customers have not been patronaging your establishment, and send them a coupon in the mail to entice them to come back. CRM at its finest.

I've seen the cyfocus site a few times. Anyway, I looked into the thing and it's too much money for me to mess with right now. Being a teacher makes you poor beyond belief.

Here's the idea - for those of you who have a clue about tech stuff, invent a crimper that cuts and crimps RJ45/11 combined with a punch tool that can punch 4 pairs to one split block based on industry standard sizes. It would require making 3 or 4 different sized punches, but they'd cost you about $15 each to make for 1000 and you could probably get around $100-$150 each for them. If anyone decides to go with this, lemme know. I obviously would have a hard time suing you, so don't be all paranoid. I would like to see my ideas do something at some point though and I think this is a much needed product.

Wouldn't you need coffee beans shipped to you on the moon? I could start a business to ship it to you, but it will cost you a fortune (have you seen the gas prices recently???... I need to cover my costs somehow).
