MLM Business Scams On The Internet

With the enticing offers to make thousands of dollars advertised on the Internet, scam artists are swooping in on their own personal chance to make a profit. Though there are several MLM (multi-level marketing) business opportunities available that are legitimate, there are also scams that appear identical.

This is the number one reason so many entrepreneurs fear joining an MLM business. The fear of throwing your money away to shady scam artists is too great to take a chance on.

So how do you differentiate the scam offers from the legitimate offers? Here are some tips on how to separate good from bad in order to choose an MLM opportunity.

    Tips For MLM Safety

    * Research the offer at hand. If you take the time to research how long a company has been in business you can begin to prove or disprove legitimacy. Look for seals on the website such as Trustee or BBB (Better Business Bureau) for security. Research the products or services as well. If you run into information that looks shady or seems to conflict with the site or offer, you may be faced with a scam.

    * Personal information requests. Do not provide personal information like social security number, drivers’ license numbers or bank account details. There are people who will take this information and sell it on the black market for a profit. You then become a victim of fraud twice and your identity is stolen with dire consequences.

    * Money up front. If you are told to send a check or money order to an address up front before you are given full employment details be aware that this is a sign of a scam. This is one way that many people have become fraud victims. People are told it is a membership deposit and that it will be held until there paper work is received and in all actuality the fraud opportunity personnel run off with your payment.

In order to protect yourself you should trust your instincts. If anything about the company, the website or the product/service sounds too good to be true, it probably is. As technology increases and doors of opportunity open for home business entrepreneurs there are scam artist riding the coat tails of those legitimate positions. It has been this way throughout centuries and will quite certainly be this way till the end of time, as we know it. This is why it is so drastically important to be aware of business scams and to learn what steps you should follow to protect yourself and your assets.

You can learn more about Internet scams of all types by searching the Internet for information. You may be surprised to see the numerous accounts of fraud activity. Though this is in-fact alarming, those who have been victims before us are helping us to prepare and prevent this from becoming our own reality. There are further detailed steps on MLM scam protection online and by taking the time to review them and possibly discuss them with your family can keep you safe and satisfied with your final MLM business choice.

    Good Luck!

good advice Rich Grads. keep in mind too that a lot of the information online pointing to an MLM as a scam has no legitimacy either. there are tons of people who fail at MLMs and in their desperate attempt to justify their failures, they point the fingers at the MLM they tried and call it a scam. this type of crap is all over the internet and diverts people away from what may actually be a good opportunity. just a thought

That's a great point DrinkAcai. I have totally experienced this myself as well. I have come across many people who have quit MLM only to go on and bash the company and blame it for their lack of success, when it was probably their own fault, personal hang-ups, improper training by their upline, etc. that was the real reason they did poorly. They play the victim and blame the company and as you say, it may have been a "good opportunity."

Hey guys. I like your comments Simon and DrinkAcai. I've just ventured into Network Marketing with a startup. Four reasons I've done so: Good, honest people I know personally at the executive levels, unique product, compensation plan and support.
