I have been an auto finance and lease consultant business and have been doing exactly what this plans strategy is for many years, so I know it works, I now have over $10K in savings by simply investing the savings from raising my deductible as described.

What do you mean it seems fishy?

there is nothing fishy about it. you could compare it to a Health savings account. in a health savings account you set money aside in a dedicated account that covers your deductible, some employers even match percentages of your contributions. With the CDRP (collision deductible reserve plan) IDA holds a service contract that will pay for collision deductibles. And depending on the plan you use you receive a discount on your $1000 plan up to 33%.
