    Consummer Video Ads

Instead of forcing video ads on consumers why not make a centralized location for them. Companies could put their videos on the site and consumers could go on the site and watch commercials for the different products they want to shop for. This would not be a place for people to ad their own videos like You Tube as there is too many copyright issues involved in ventures like You tube. Is this what companies are starting to use You Tube for?

Companies use youtube to tab into a hughe market of young people who are looking for funny videos. If you make a site dedicated to advertisers videos i dont see people the main reason for you tubes success going to see hours of advertising even if they were looking to buy it. What can you find in an advertisement that you cant find in 2 secs in typing in google.

Like i said the reason why advertises go to you tube is because there is a large market there. However advertisers have worked out they cant just put the run of the mill advert because people will notice and wont watch. Advertisers come up with funny movies to kinda blend in with the other videos, people still notice its an advert but dont care because its amusing to watch.

I just dont think you would get people coming to your site to look at advertising.

I had thought of something along these lines as well a few months back but Mad Muppet is right, would you go to a site that was dedicated to advertising? Consumers are getting smarter by the day and most likely would not go to a site that had nothing to offer them in return. This is why You Tube is affective in offering a viable service which can have ad placement integrated into it. That being said, I am actually in disagreement with this business model of building a content driven site for the means of using ad revenue to make a profit. I do not believe that ad campaigns on these sites are successful and think that over the coming years that traditional ad methods will need to be revised as companies realize there ineffectiveness. The argument to this is it is really hard to put a value on brand recognition and this is still the driving force for all the ad $$$ online. If you are going to make a site with ads in mind, I would suggest coming up with a unique idea that offers something to end users. Good luck. John.

    Agreed

I know what you mean, but i am saying put the pressure on advertising people to not just make run of the mill ads. Have them be creative, be risky, and draw crowds in for the same reason they watch funny home videos.

thats a big request, you need to ask yourself "would i spend my advertising dollars on creating a video which probably wont reach many people on a advertising website, or on a website which has millions of views a day?"

Its always better to fit the market than to make the market fit you.

you CAN, however, make a website (video hosting) professional users who wishes to get into the entertainment business.

What I mean is, make a website for "online drama" , where users create home video with a story line, quality would be screened by users and Mods, and it must abide to certain rules you set.

In Australia (and hong kong a while back) a new Online Drama trend is taking place, but the videos are created by Large entertainment companies. People visit to watch as the story unfolds and they can relate to the characters due to how the video was shot (being it was raw and un-edited most of the time).

    just a thought

could see an online drama site taking off, its an open market. Youtube does have this but its so cram packed with toehr crap its hard to see them, so if you could filter them out you could have a good business model.
