Question Business Ideas For The Gym/fitness Industry

    Hey guys,

I'm a bit of a fitness buff and I know that one should go into a business that he/she is passionate about. I'm not a bodybuilder or what not, but I regularly go to the gym and have built a network there.

Would you have any suggestions as to a business that I could set up re the fitness market, gym patrons, etc.?

I used to know someone who made money by importing protein powders (brands like Designer, Nitro Tech, Optimum Whey) from the US and then selling them here to the gymgoers at a hefty margin. He made money because he was selling them at a price cheaper than those of GNC's items (if you only knew how expensive these branded protein powders are in our country), but with a good enough margin to be profitable. He even had a catalogue for us to browse through.

Other than that, what else is a viable idea? Especially with the advent of all these diet fads like South Beach, Atkins, etc...

I'm thinking of setting up a business using soy beans. Maybe. Hm.

    Thanks!

    Hi

Funny you should mention marketing to Gyms & health/fitness centres. I was just thinking today of advertising my own product today specifically marketing these audiences. Was thinking maybe advertising on noticeboards or in trade mags/newspapers/newsletters etc, etc.

Lucky me... I guess it helps when your partner manages a gym too
I have some good leads & advice to followup on. I guess the other thing is I already have a product to market, which is a good first step.

Anyway... best of luck with what you're trying to do!

    Sincerely Stan

Here's an article I came across today about a woman who is starting a business selling bottled vitamin water for women - hopefully it gives you some ideas

I think setting up a fitness gym is a great idea. America definitely needs more gyms. We are, If I'm not mistaken, the most over weight country in the world. But your number 1 reason in wanting to own a fitness gym, should be to help people and make a difference in people's lives and health. I think that if helping people live a healthier life is your number one reason for setting up this business and making good money is your second reason, then I think that you will be extremely successful. I wish you the best of luck and God Bless!
