    Biometric Niche for big $$$

Its a new industry with lots of merit.

Anyone interested in developing biometric solutions for online or offline business should consider doing so.

    Some suggestions are:
    BioMail
    BioForums
    Bio Tolls
    etc

Build it and let it grow and over time it could be a big business.
People always look for a niche and I am offering one.

If the interest is big enough via this forum, I will setup a developers forum so you can interact with others in the Biometric industry.

    Hey bioman.

I am very interested in this idea of yours. I recently went back to uni and am doing a masters of biotechnology and this kind of things really interests me.

What did you mean about getting a group of people together and starting a forum. Are you interested in starting this idea up or something. Maybe we should get together to talk more about this.

    Hi

I'm also very interested. Over the years I've come up with a few biometric ideas of my own (bascially those which are starting to come out now), but haven't had the time or capital to get something off the ground.

I think definately this industry is going to sky-rocket in the next few years and replace all current forms of identification. Such a simple concept that's been around for ages, the software has been used by criminal authorities for years, it's just the hardware that's been playing catchup.

One big issue I believe the industry will face regards persuading the consumer that a biometrics system will be safe - e.g. that people aren't simply going to run around cutting off fingers to access finances and records etc. Have you come up with a system to prevent something like this occuring?

    cheers
    Nathan

Sorry. I dont hit anyone up.
Sometimes you need to follow a post through to find out more information.
Or at least view a person "SIG"
Also, please note that we are not handing out anything. If your interested and can work when needed then that we will look at.

Ive had experience with doing business with online people and so far have been bitterly dissapointed. 90% of reply posts end up in limbo as people never reply or just lose interest.

What I suggested is that some of you may want to look into the Biometric industry and create useful tools to service the market and I will help by creating a forum to do so.

Actually 4 hours south of Sydney atm, but next year I'll either be in Wollongong or Canberra.

Bioman, what skills are you after?

    15min south of Batemans Bay

I can't provide a terrible lot of skills currently, as I'm just finishing my HSC. Although I do have quite a few computer and web skills, and planning to do a Bachelor of Commerce, perhaps with a double degree in Computer Engineering next year.

If you're looking for someone with more experience, no probs.

Where exactly are you up to in the development?

What skills are you particularly after or jobs you need people to undertake?

Glad to see some discussion in this thread. Bioman, I could provide skills that would be highly valuable. I have a degree in IT at the University of Queensland with a focus on programming databases and anything web associated. I have some skills also with programming using object oriented programs like C++, java and C (not OOP).

At the start of the year I went back to UQ to undertake a masters in Biotechnology. My main focus here is to learn skills in science and the laboratory but to also have a business orientation and incorporate my technology background into this field.

BTW I am located in Brisbane.
