Adult dating website - any experience?

One of my partner is looking to start an adult dating website (both gay/straight). I am aware that this market is beaten to death already, but is there anyone out here who has some experience in this industry? Do you think there can be some variations o the 'dating' market that can make the site profitable or any untapped niche area?

Sure, tell your friend about companies like icebreaker, or engage. the former is doing mobile phone dating, whilst the later is doing peer filtered dating.

I think I have some clue (like a 'medium of communication' - like mobile phone, peer in the examples you've shown), and do you know of any methodologies (surveys or whatever...) that can work to evaluate the market? or places/sites to look out for ? I just need to have some market data to justify that my idea will work.
