Lightbulb 2 Quality Australian websites for sale

    Hi guys,
I am in the process of selling off 2 of my online businesses that are currently listed on ebay.

    www.housemates.com.au - share accommodation site

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....MESE%3AIT&rd=1

www.longlostfriends.com.au - friends reunited type site

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....MESE%3AIT&rd=1

I would be more than willing to negotiate on these figures and answer any question as best I can.

    Thanks,

    RJ

how did you arrive at your valuations?

what factors did you take into account for pricing your auction items?

    Hi Akula,
I just took a wild guess. Not the most practicle method I know! I just thought Id throw those figures up and "see what happened" Interestingly enough I already have someone showing interest in one of them.

Im in the position of not "having" to sell them, so I dont mind starting high and working down from there.

I believe both have great potential along with strong domain names - so Ill see how it eventuates.

I would be open to suggestions/thoughts/comments.

    Thanks man,

    RJ

Not to sound rude, but having a starting price of 100,000 AUD and 25,000AUD for near empty websites, no traffic (according to alexa atleast) no page rank and I would assume no income, its just over the top.

I would advise you to work on the website, market it, add quality content etc etc, before starting to sell it.

Currently, the website would be worth, the domain name, hosting, design + 12xmonthly income(if there is any).

    RJ,

You can nail this sale if you have better answers to questions similar to mine

For example: "The value of this website is calculated by reference to how much I have invested in developing it, and how much comparable websites cost on the market. Likewise, if one is to calculate the future earning potential of the website, the value of on-going support which I will provide, and the flexible payment schedule (i.e. 100k payment can be tied to performance hurdles), the purchase price is a steal."

Just find the right customers who need entry into online classifieds, and either are facing the decision to acquire an eisting player, or subject them selves to development risk and build in-house.

    No worries mate

    it's just sales

for example, take a joint like Sensis (Telstra's Internet portal)

they did over $1billion in sales last year

they need to diversify into online classifieds because a) they need to sustain earning's growth to satisfy investors and b) to keep managers busy so they look like they're doing something c) if they don't, they'll lag competition like NineMSN

these ppl are an ideal target for you because their demand curve is inverse

it's in the manager's interest to pay more than 100k for your sites because a) if the manager spends money they get a bigger budget next year and b) because to buy a site for 100k is cheaper than paying full time programmers to develop it

so yeah, this is sales, and there's a whole bunch of tips, hints and tricks

i don't imagine you should have a problem selling your sites if you have a sincere interest in sales - including customer segmentation, customer needs, why customers say NO and how to turn a NO into a YES

You need to a better job with selling it. Use different fonts, emphasize certain words, state the benefits, make it eye-catching.

Your prices are way to high for the sites... I doubt anyone will buy it because for that much money you could customize your own site..

Why are you selling the sites at such an early stage?
