What are the Young Entrepreneur Awards (YEA)?
Created by the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) in 1988, the YEA pay tribute to outstanding Canadian young entrepreneurs who have distinguished themselves not only by their success in business, but also by their creativity, innovative spirit and community involvement. There is one YEA per province and territory.
The 2009 YEA winners will be invited to receive their awards during a gala which will take place in Ottawa, on October 20, 2009, as part of
Small Business Week. Over 350 business people and representatives from BDC and its partners and various levels of government are expected to attend the gala.
The YEA winners will also be eligible to two special awards, to be given during the gala:
The Export Development Canada Export Excellence Award , presented to the winner with the most outstanding export results. This special award comes with a $10,000 grant.
The Corporate Social Responsibility Award, presented to the winner whose company stands out in terms of practices and policies promoting environmental protection, sound human resources management or community well-being.

What are the campaign dates?
The nomination period will take place May 11 – June 24, 2009.
Who can participate in the YEA contest?
All Canadian entrepreneurs between 19 and 35 years of age can participate in the YEA contest
