I am relatively new to this forum but from the threads that I have read, it seems very helpful.

What would be the best way to approach an established company for franchising if my company is just a startup?

There is a company I approached for franchising and I received an email from them wherein they asked me all sorts of questions such as history of my company, yearly profit, past and current clients, etc. Should I try to joint venture with a bigger and already established company? Or should I just explain to them that I am a startup? Please help!

Be honest with them with regard to being a startup. But in the same sense, make sure that you communicate the positives of your startup.

I agree and with providing positives of your startup, provide facts,research, and detailed information.

So do you guys suggest i completely disregard going into a joint venture with a bigger and more established company? Has anyone ever been in this situation or has known anyone that has been in this situation in the past? Please feel free to reply to this forum. thanks

The first question I have is, what is your outcome? Why do you want to do this? What is it you are hoping to accomplish? What is the endgame?

I think if we can better understand what your motives are for proposing this we can better give suggestions on how to accomplish it.

If you want to get a franchise, they will want to know your background. That is fine. Just be frank because they too will need to know if you have the $$$ and capability to do it. If I am not mistaken some company will not even offer you the franchise if you have been in the industry (its harder to teach someones that think he know it all about the industry when main company that offer the franchise already have a proven working formula), just be frank is good.
