Is anyone in here a successful franchisee?
I see a lot of the discussion on this section of the board is focused on franchising the individual ideas and not as much on purchasing/operating existing franchises. Does anyone have any success stories (or failure stories) of name brand franchises?
Personally, I'm a Liberty Tax Service franchisee and I just completed my second tax season. I'm not rich (yet) but I can see the bigger picture and after two tax seasons, I will be opening another office this year and I also became an Area Developer (master franchisor) for 42 franchise territories.
I'm eager to hear any success stories from other folks and/or answer any questions for those interested in pursuing franchise ownership.

I was just about to ask the same question. However does anyone here own a QSR? Any information you can share about your personal experience would be most appreciated!

I"m about to start my franchise this month. I hope to have a successful story like David. I narrowed it down to AAMCO Transmissions and Liberty Tax Service before i made my decision. I decided to go with AAMCO Transmissions. David do you have any advice for me?
Thanks...Robert

I too am looking at going into the franchise business. I have my sites set on Quizno's. I came across this article on entrepreneur.com and it's worth taking a look at. I can't post the url until have have 5 or more post. So just go to entrepreneur.com and click on franchise. Then to the left there is an article: Be a Millionaire Franchisee
How to build your franchise into a big business

I am! I'm loving it. It's not a "franchise" as you may think of it. Here's my product page: BiosYourLife .com
If you're interested let me know. If not, no problem. It's not for everyone.

I have heard a lot of grumblings from Quizno franchisees....
I owned a couple of brand name franchises so I was quite involved in learning about other brands and the pros and cons....I also looked at quiznos and the profits were very low relative to asking prices....

My husband and I own 2 Quiznos, and I can't encourage or discourage you. My husband who has his dream set on opening a restaurant from scratch choose Quiznos as a way to get his feet wet-and build residual income. We bought one, and realized the its better two own several-why pay 1 manager to run one location, when the same manager can run 2? My friends own 6 pizza huts-and it is in owning multiple franchises that the money comes. The experience has been tremendous for my husband, and yes it does pay bills. Currently my husband does more playing than working, however it took a while to build a strong staff. Also-there is constant hiring and firing-16 year olds are a trip. If you are interested in a franchise- I would'nt evaluate the company as much as I would evaluate the physical store you are buying-and its numbers. You can have a great franchise in a dying area-no good. Quiznos-corporate is strong, and it will continue to be a very strong franchise in our opinion. Good luck, and I'd be happy to answer anything I can as we are quite familiar with the company!

I've got a buddy that just bought a franchise in the Fort Worth, TX area for Liberty. He and his wife are going to run it. I'm trying to encourage him to become a Farmers Insurance agent also and run a side by side operation/retail front. Insurance biz is good all year round and should help offset some of the slow time when its not tax season. Also...all the tax clients could be referred over to insurance office for insurance as an "oh by the way" opportunity. I think he is going to do the Farmers opportunity, he is just trying to get the tax biz going first. I think it would be an easy biz to do with tax service.

Franchisor/Franchisee
I currently am a Partner as well as a franchisee at a relatively new QSR, FROOTS: Fresh Smoothies, Salads, & Wraps. We do Wraps, Salads, Panini's, Smoothies, shakes & Juices, that taste good and are healthy. As a franchisor we have opened about 50 units in the past couple years across the US & Internationally.
On the Local Franchise here we have been open for about 18 months and like the above posts, the more you have the more lucrative it gets, we have just opened our second, and are working on numbers 3 & 4. Every one we open puts more in our pockets at the local level.
As MSCOUTURE said it's all about finding the right people, everything else since it's a franchise is pretty simple, and there is constant turnover among the younger employees, but you should be able to find a couple older people looking to supplement their spouses income, and they will help your cause.

I haven't tried franchising but think it takes a lot of effort and time in order for your franchise business to be successful.
