I had a Radioshack franchise for several years. It was about as profitable as say - working for minimum wage as the new guy at a Quiznos... I've owned profitable independent operations before and since - RadioShack stinks....

I am running an internet franchise and I am absolutely enjoying it as it's completely portable and they are normally much cheaper than offline franchises.

You can contact me if you would like to find out more or go to my website.
    To your success!

I just realized I started this thread over a year and a half ago and someone bumped it :-) Lots of interesting stories on here. I'm heading into my 4th tax season and I'm thrilled with my franchise. I'm setting my sites on opening more locations - there is definitely economies of scale with multiple locations.

Congratulations! We always hear a lot of initial stories here, but barely ever hear how they ended up a couple of years down the track. Sounds like franchising has really worked for you!

I have been very successful with franchises, but not the conventional kind! My franchise is in Network Marketing and it works! Before you get into the game for all the wrong reasons, I invite you to look at the pros and cons of both ways of franchising, conventional vs Network Marketing!
    WHAT ARE YOU DOING???
Before you spend $20k or more buying a franchise and basically buying a minimum wage job, why don't you talk to us about Network Marketing? We can show you how to be your own boss, choose the hours, great tax advantages, become successful by helping others reach success and have unlimited income potential. You can do all this for under $1000 investment! Oh, and by the way, you'll never have to ask people: "Do you want any fries with that?" omarcapellan.com

It definitely does my company GlobalCFOs.com had to spend a significant amount of time and money just to get the agreements together. Aside from the agreements and legal requirements you have to have a strong operations manual which is basically your business in book form. Lucky for us our CEO had been recording every step the business made for the past 10 years so it was more a matter of compiling the processes rather than trying to remember or create them from scratch (which as scary as it seems is what some new franchises actually do!).
