    Smile Why even bother?

I get asked a lot about why people should bother coming to us for assistance with putting together a strategy for marketing their products when there's Facebook, Twitter, Linked In and the like.

This simple question seems to hold a lot of Entrepreneurs (with brilliant projects for that matter) back from getting the expertise required to put together an effective marketing strategy, which ultimately impedes the progress of their project.

Where a goal can easily be reached in a year's time with the right guidance, it takes twice as long to achieve.

I feel that question lacks fore-thought so I'll try to explain this as practically as I can.

Imagine you'll be hosting a get together for 10 of your friends and their partners in a week's time. You want this get together to be one that everyone will remember for a long, long time. You can picture the delicious food and wonderful conversations that will fill the night.

Now imagine you'll be doing this without a plan; you won't plan for the steak or wine to pick out, what the setting will look like or even send out text messages for people to come. For the invites, you'll tell 3 or 4 of your friends let other people know about the get together.

How would this scenario play out? Do you think the delicious meal will turn out as you imagined? How about the Decor or the mix of guests you get? Is it at all possible to plan an incredible meal without a plan or shopping list?

Didn't think so, and yet lots of Entrepreneurs do exactly that with their businesses and projects. A recipe for disaster is it not?

They know what they want to achieve with the business, they know they have a great product and that this product can make a difference to their customers. They know it in their soul that their customers will rave about their products or services (the famous "word of mouth" strategy for lack of a better word).

Unfortunately, in a world that is over-crowded by people screaming through social media about their wonderful products; it becomes difficult for potential customers to sift through the clutter. Without a plan of how your product's benefits will be communicated in such a way that the customer sees what you see; your product will remain just that... a brilliant product with no real growth.
Having a great product is not enough... you need direction and that's what a good marketing plan can do for you.

I have a site that I made for my wife who makes jewelry. I am not getting sales even though I think her jewelry is awesome. Any ideas?

Have you looked at the analytics of your web site? You can use Google's WEBMASTER TOOLS to get the coding needed to track your site visitors.
With analytics you can get an idea what visitors are doing on your site, how they found you, enter/exit pages, etc. Look at the reports -- are visitors leaving as soon as they visit your home page? Or are they leaving on the page where payment is required?

There are a number of factors you need to consider... Procuring the services of a marketing firm would be your best bet cause we would sit with you and disect the product itself... Just knowing that you are selling jewellery simply isn't enough info to go on to be honest.

Things like specific groups that need to be targeted, what kind of plan would be best suited to market your product, what platforms to use (online, print, TV etc.) and the like would be discussed in more depth once there is a good understanding of the product. In short, for me to market your product effectively, I need to believe in it.

The sales part becomes MUCH easier if you lay the basic principles down cause that's what will drive your sales strategy.

Add that to the advice from GotLiveChat and you're well on your way to turning your website into the sales source you wanted from the start.

Like the other said there are many issues that have to come together to make a successful web shop. Try and read the booklet: How to start a web shop, it might give you a road to follow.
