Your first employee should be someone who can do the things you can't do, so you can expand your business into the areas you aren't familiar with but know you need to be in. All of your early hires should be people who are better than you. Too many entrepreneurs fear losing control of their companies and want to keep the knowledge on top and hire less qualified people underneath them. If you hire someone just to ease the work-load, you'll find new business to occupy your time and find yourself in the same position you were in before. Bring in other people who can be a profit center first.
