    Starting Small

Ive always wated to work for myself. So i picked up a book at the library about starting a small business. In the chapter about finding an idea for a business it says that you should harness what your good at and do something you love doing. Like most women i love shoping and am good at find a bargain. Ebay is almost an addiction and carboots and charity shops are my favourite places. I was wondering if it was possible or viable to buy from ebay etc. get something for a great price, then sell off again online for profit on a boutique site?

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi daizy88,

Buying from Ebay and re-selling the items on another website is not easy at all. You may be better off going to garage sales, thrift stores and estate sales and buying goods from these places cheap and then trying to sell the stuff online. You may also want to look into drop shipping companies like Doba. It is very hard to start your own successful web shop these days with online buying and selling being so competitive these days.

try it. I am huge into testing before you get in too deep. Why not find out for yourself if your idea has 'legs'.

What could really make a difference is the way you treat your clients. Better service for your clients = more customers. Even if you are a smaller business.

Hi! it is okay to buy and sell. just make sure you know where to resell your products. You can create you own site to sell your products.

It's absolutely OK to do that, however, I would be weary that it will increase the cost of a product. If you are able to sell it dearer than on ebay (which shouldn't be a problem really, except for some really ebay specific products maybe), then you should have no problems with the business.
Charity shops etc. offer a good stock option, but quite often you will have only one unit of an item available. Therefore, your business will be closer to auctioning unique items, rather than selling stock online. And, to be frank, this is a huge business opportunity there.
    Best of luck with it!

When you start your business first of fall you should consider what type of business you want to start. A major aspect of starting a business is crafting a business plan that can help you bring your vision to life by outlining your missions and goals.

Definitely go look for another idea. Buying and reselling from Ebay these days(and show a profit) is probably close to impossible .
