    starting an arcade store !

i was just wondering if anyone has any experience in arcades and games commercially ?
are there any legal things i should worry about? such as rights to use certain games commercially.

any advice would really help me !
    thank you

in most countries it should not be a problem, but where exactly are you planning to have it? do you think you draw in enough crowds to play your machines? unless you have new and interesting games, it is pretty much dead nowadays especially in the asia regions.

i was thinking at the US , i found an awesome location just beside the mall and its also beside a suburban area, but i was thinking more about using modded arcade machines.
where the arcade machine is a ps3 or xbox with a lcd tv and joysticks in an arcade shape .would that be illegal for commercial use in oregon ?

    thanks

Your talking about a lan center, or aka "cyber cafe". These places have huge start up costs, and you wont make much if anything. The lan center we have in our town moved next to the movie theater, and their in danger of closing down. There was a lan in the location a few years back, and they went under too.

    Why?

    1. Technology is better, faster, more affordable
    2. Gamers arn't very social .......... Our lan tries to host tournaments, but their turn outs are very poor. People say they will be there, but over half never come.

thats true about no turn ups but i really think that it is an untapped market where i am, but what i was thinking are arcades not cyber cafes they are kind of modded would it be legal ?
