Should i start a web hosting busniess?

    Hey Guys and Gals!

Im thinking of starting a web hosting and game server hosting busniess. At this current time, it is only an idea, and i'd like to know the advantages and drawbacks of this situation i could be getting myself into. I and a friend are currently 15, and have a wide experience in computer maintainence, web design, programme codeing and gaming

The reason i would like to get into web hosting is that i belive some people get ripped off from web hosts charging custumors too much in return for too little.

I'm currently not getting alot of good feedback form the parents about this, as they are worried about what it could entail for me.

I've already priced up servers, software ect and me and my friend are able to fund this. However, we would like to know the legal terms ect, and, penultametly if you think it would be a good idea.

    Any reply is muchly appretiated.

    Regards, Ben

The market is 'totally saturated' and this is only my opinion but i would give it a miss if you wanted to set it up as a business !!! You mention that you have a knowledge of programme codeing that in my opinion is the avenue to go down as many people do web design but the programming side of the market is were the 'wonga' is to be made.

    Ben,

I recently got into the free hosting business and it's going great. I'd suggest using Byethost for your free host. They have some nice hosting plans at myownfreehost.net. If you have any questions about starting a free host, PM me.

Not a good idea. Hosting is now a commodity and you need volume to make any money. Try to find something else for your skills. Starting a company is hard work so you should do something that has some sustainability and advantage over potential competitors.

Thankyou very much for your input!

I was also thinking of hosting game servers, as from my gaming experience, they are always wanted.

Its something i've thought about before, but i like the idea of having a small busniess/company, prefirably web based as i think i have the skills and knowledge to partake in it.

im pretty confident with making small desktop apps, so maybe i could set up a sort of, we hosting/design/ app making company?

Many people try to put the game server market down, but I started up 2 years ago and I now own a vast array of my own hardware, if you want some help I am always around, just drop me a PM.
