    Self-Publishing Website

I am in the initial phase of planning a self-publishing (book) website company. While this may seem a bit outdated, there is a little more to it than that, that I find to be quite unique and mass-focused.

My issue is this--I am not a programmer. Neither are my partners. Another problem, is that we all are willing to risk quite a bit of our time and efforts, but don't have a substantial amount of money to risk along with it. We are willing, however, to risk a portion of our company, for the development of the site.

My question is, how feasible is it to find such a service? I am brand new to this site, and was looking for advice on how to find the perfect parter for our business--an entrepreneur/web developer/programmer combination whom, assuming he/she loves our concept, is willing to essentially work only on potential income.

Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

People try doing this all the time. "Try" Very few people have success doing so. Why would a programmer take the chance to do work for free and possibly not get anything back for it in the event your company fails if he can find someone else willing to pay for his services. So you answer your question.. not very feasible.

They wouldn't. I wouldn't, if it were me. That's exactly why I asked--you never know.

With that in mind, I can create and design a website with ease. In fact, I do it for a living right now. I don't, however, have programming experience. This site would require quite a bit of it.

I have a total of 16 business plans sitting on my desk, 11 of which were developed with the same parters as the plan I mentioned in my first post. Not one has made it past a 'business plan'. Why? Because every idea I (we) have requires too much money.

I believe all of our business ideas are potentially profitable (well, all but one). I spend a long time on each one, and have been doing it for years. The reason why I do it, is to gain experience in preparing a business plan, researching certain markets, and understanding what is feasible.

What I really want, is for that bolt of lighting to finally hit me with something that is, in fact, feasible. Like...a muffin tin that... eh, forget it.

    Mason,

If you truly believe these business plans are worthy investments, rather than just look for a programmer who will work for free, why not do some capital raising as well?

Get investors, goto a lending institution. Then you can use sites like elance or odesk to find programmers to then get the job done.

A good business plan should indicate how much money is needed, and if all that is stopping you is raising it then thats the next step get that startup capital.

    Good luck

Mason, I might be interested in funding/providing the IT support you need, also might be interested in some of the other projects you have sitting around as well.
