I am a 24 year old who came up with the wild idea of opening a roller skating rink in my community of roughly 103,000 people. Since we are in the upper midwest winters are harsh so I would imagine I would be very busy during the cold months.
I have done alot of research so far, and I cannot stop thinking about the idea. There are no roller rinks in our city and the nearest one is 2.5 hours away.
My concern is not the drive, or how the heck am I going to pull the off the feat... but it is more of the economy. I am guessing startup costs would be between $500,000 - $900,000 (depending on the building size, ect...)
I find the current economy exciting in the fact that roller skating hit it's prime when things got tough for families. People in my area are starved for entertainment, especially families with young kids.
I didn't have a problem buying a house in March, as my credit is a little higher than average.
Words of advice would be greatly appreciated.
