    Review My Idea :D

What does everyone think about a mp3 music/movie download site where you pay a yearly membership fee and that's all. Membership would be about $29 for a year. In that year you can have unlimited access to download as many songs/movies to your mp3 player/Ipod as you want. I figure since people normally pay $.99 per song at itunes, if they download more than 2 songs per month, which I'm sure most people do, this membership will pay for itself. This isn't even including the unlimited movie downloads. What do you think?

I don't want to discourage you but you might want to google Rhapsody. There are tons of services like that which offer a very low price for a full year of unlimited songs.

Arent there lots of copyright issues involved with music and dvd's , How would you get round that? But yeah, I like the idea. If you could get it to be a well known brand I'm sure you would make lots of money.

Since your location states NY, I'm going to say it's never going to happen if you want major label music. You need to make deals with the record labels that they approve to distribute their music and there just isn't enough money to spread between them with a low cost service of $29/yr. Might work for independents, but you'll have a harder time finding customers.

Now if you lived in Russia, it might be different. Check out Mp3Sparks.com. They used to be allofmp3.com and sell .mp3's for pennies. Apparently the russian copyright laws let this slide. Your model might work there, at least until russian laws get changed.

Thanks guys. I forgot about rhapsody but come to think of it I think their prices are better. Regarding the license and copyright questions, none of that would be an issue because I would be getting the songs and movies through a click bank program. I'm gonna check rhapsody's prices, if their's are lower then I won't be going any further with the idea.

I do like the idea A LOT. I know I'd probably subscribe... Movies and Music for $30/yr; fast and legal downloads? I'm in. Let us know how your research pans out, I'm certainly curious.

I dont understand the click bank program.. If you are letting people buy music and movies, you need to hold ownership of the music? How would a click bank program stop you from needing copyright ownership of the things your selling? . Sorry for being awkward, I am just intruiged at how that could work.

The click bank is an affiliate program. Basically they own the music and you are reselling it.

I was looking into rhapsody prices but then I realized that even though their prices are good they don't offer movies too.

I just found out I could also offer unlimited free game downloads without changing the price. Not the big famous video games, but more like arcade games. So $29 for unlimited games, music and movies. Hell, I'm signing up myself.

With Clickbank, you get a commission for each song downloaded, correct? Do they set the price of the song, or do you? Because if they set the price of the song, then you would be unable to offer unlimited downloads for $29/year. You would have to work closely with Clickbank. Clickbank probably already has agreements in place with the artists so you would have to make sure you are not violating their agreements as well.
