    Resell Liquar In New Bottle

Looking to start a rum company, but I don't want to distill the rum. I just want to create a brand and have another big company go about packaging it for me, can this be done? What would I have to do to get this started? Do I need to work with a distributor or a rum company?

I believe that you need to contact a rum distilling company to find out if they would be interested in your proposition. Why would they want to do that though? Costco has a vodka with their brand, I would imagine that you would have to sell far more rum than the original distiller to be able to make a volume purchase.

I dont think this is a good idea. You cant really take someones product, repackage it and sell it. Even if you did you would have to markup the price sky high to make a profit.

Don't listen to these people. Your concept is tried, tested, and true.

Most of the manufacturers for the biggest brands in the world do private label.

Basically what you will need to do is contact whoever produces rum for a large company like Bacardi. Once you've established contact, tell them you are interested in high-end private label. They will likely balk at first, but keep trying until they give you an offer.

I will say, this takes dedication, LOTS of capital investment and a very strong sense of branding.

    Good luck.
