I have started a Graphic Design company. I have incorporated as an LLC, leased a storefront, purchased a $20k printer. I will be doing vinyl signs, about to purchase screen printers 2 station 6 color and heat presses, leased embroidery machines. Also outsourcing some of the conventional print jobs. I have been learning Adobe illustrator and Adobe Photoshop, Fireworks and vector based graphic design software. Still a novice. I'm also in the process of learning tons of different sign making methods, substrates and industry standards and screen printing methods. Also just about finished creating a website for accepting orders.
I am expecting huge growth quickly to the point I will probably be unable to accept all the work I generate and need feedback on how to expand, get equipment, quality people, new locations and a fabrication shop in a short amount of time. The learning curve as a company as a whole is what concerns me. How can I manage the growth and ensure I can grow the skills and knowledge required for the various services I want to offer. I am currently still funding the start up with my day job and other investments. Overhead is low currently and expected to remain making more than it cost to operate until I start bringing on employees. What is the best way to grow this kind of business without getting in debt and what are some setbacks or obstacles I may encounter. Hoping to find feedback from someone who has started a business preferably a graphics or creative type business and have experience on expanding efficiently.
