    Question

    Hello -

I am currently a sole proprietor and I am interested in upgrading my business to an LLC here in North Carolina. My question is, do I have to find someone to be the registered agent, or can I as the owner of the company be the registered agent?

If I have to find someone, how do I go about doing that?

    Thanks,

you can be your own registered agent. usually a RA is used when you are in a different location from your business (state). The RA would be where your business is registered.

Okay, I'm sure that was a simple thing and kind of stupid. I'm working with a very low budget and a lot of Attorneys are super expensive. I was just confused by the Articles of Organization papers I'm looking at here.

You won't learn unless you ask questions. The only stupid question is one not asked.

    Well, in that case... lol

I want to rename my company, but the name is already taken here in North Carolina. The company is a Bus Line and is located in a different county. They are registered as a S or an C Corporation.

My question is, I know I can't form an LLC with the same name, what if I formed an LLC with something else like... ABCD LLC and got a DBA in my county for the name that's taken by the bus line.

Can I do that if my LLC name is different and they are located in a different county when I file the DBA?
