    Protecting ideas?

Hey guys, basically I have an idea, it's for the internet though and I think it's good enough to protect

I just wonder if it is possible to protect my idea, because I think it is possible for others to do as well...but I want to protect it as it hasn't been done and I think it would receive large popularity.

    Thanks guys! :-)

Consult an IP attorney for help on patents or someone who is familiar with patents. Although it is worth noting that if someone has already implemented your idea in any way shape or form and you don't realize it, the patent may not prevail

In all honesty, you cannot completely protect your idea. You can get an object or an idea patented but all I would have to do is change on small detail and I can legally use the idea as my own. So...just do what you think will work and don't worry about what anyone else can do with it. Just do it better than any of the copycats that will try to follow you. Oh, and one more thing...let me in on it before everyone else knows because I want to get a jump start with you. Believe me any lawyer will tell you this. Good luck and hey if you make your millions with the idea...what do you care if I make a million or two with it too. :O)

You can put a copywright symbol after something and I believe that it is then good locally as long as you can prove you came up with the idea first. But a step higher is to get an idea product or whatever registered as a trademark, you can get this done at an international level and then you're covered no matter what.
