    Personal startup bonus

I've read how when starting a business their is the general requirement that a persons salary be reasonable.

I was wondering though. Is their any problem with giving yourself a small startup bonus if investors are fine with it?

I'm comfortable with a pretty low salary until profits come. I'm just thinking a startup bonus would help me cover an apartment deposit and some other 1-time personal expenses that could jumpstart my life.

Jumpstarting your life exists separately from jumpstarting your startup. If I was investing in a business, I'd want the person running things to have their life in order enough to dedicate 100% to the startup. There's nothing wrong with needing to get some things in order- but broaching that subject with your investors in the way of a bonus might be asking too much. Unless you've got a STRONG rapport with them.

1] You're going to be bootstrapping your business before you have an investor so all of this would be handled by you until that time comes.

2] If you should get an investor down the road, it's all negotiated.
