Online Music Related Business Startup

Hello,

I am 14 years old, and I am trying to start up an internet music related business. I live in Canada and I would like to know if I must register this business if I am selling music and other merchandise? If so, being 14, how would I do this? What would it cost?

I have searched google and I can not find any of this information.

submise.com ( I can't post links quite yet).

That is the current site. I used a template that I found and I was allowed to edit it in any way I wished. What do you think about the design and content?

What do you all think of the idea?
Is the name "Submise" Brand-able enough?

What else?

Anything I should change? Add? Remove? Fix?

My current capital is quite low, as I don't have a paypal linked up to a debit card, as I can't do that, so, all of my paymens would have to be via mail for anything.

print some business cards, pitch some customers, take their money then repeat steps 2 and 3
done
once you've made a sale or two, post here and i'll walk you through the legalities etc...but for now, don't worry about it

I'm getting business-card quality paper later, but, my focus is more on the internet market, as Canada doesn't really "like" this type of music.

Would you care telling me about some legalities now?

one way i do that is to help you avoid common startup mistakes
one of those mistakes is analysis paralysis..which is what you're doing - engaging in thought about things of minimal priority, for the purpose of avoiding doing things that really matter..because its all new to you and you are scared.

overcome your fear and just go look for customers, don't argue, don't complain, don't make excuses, don't bitch, don't sulk, don't theorise, don't think, just pick up the phone and pitch some artists. everything else will work it self out in due time.

is this encouraging enough?

Hell yeah, blunt and to the point, what I need. Tomorrow (only cause no-one is awake right now) I will start looking for artists and forget this legal mubo-jumbo.

Akula, I love it. Great advice. I find that to be the biggest piece between making it happen and not - doing everything but what you have to do.
I have read many of your posts and found them to be right on - nice to have a clear thinker to help all these people in their start ups.

One huge rule of business is you have to make it east for people to buy. So, find someone willing to get you linked up on paypal. Someone that loves you, not the neighbor down the street. Maybe Mom or Dad????

Also, don't be so worried about legalities and government and what's proper. Like Akula said and I am paraphrasing - go get the success and worry about the small stuff later. Also, to startt a record label repeat after me "I just started a record label" wala - u r done!

No, no, people don't mail me stuff. I was talking about paying people to make some of my sites feature - but I already figured that out. The post is a wee bit out of date, sorry.

I got it started now, and, I found a Dj to start my promotions with, Akulas advice has worked, so I thank you.

I don't have an attorney. But, I'm not really selling anything yet, so I think I am OK.
