Opps, forgot to share mine. Mine is this:

Research your competition, what they are doing well, what they lack, and how you will be different.

I'll share my Top 6 as I couldn't narrow it down to just one 'magic startup tip'

    1) Surround yourself with quality people that you can learn from. 2) Find a Mentor that can help guide you along the way. 3) Keep your overhead LOW and don’t try and micro-manage your business as you grow.

    4) Start now! "Procrastination is the thief of fortune!" 5) Come up with a plan to stay organized and focused. 6) Don't Give up!

Where you use the word "to" or "and", the message is conveyed the same way.

    i got 2:
    1. before you go any further with any thing..type up some surveys and take them to people who are gonna be your customers. use the results to access other resources and start your venture.
    2. don't depend on biz partners. people always drop off before the venture gets traction. don't let them drop off with half of your company.

I would have to agree with the others, but there is one in common that I would mention first . . .since many people have said the same thing. Keep the over head as low as possible, and keep your accounting as simple and straight forward as possible.

    Cheers.
