New Website Startup

Hi all,

I know this idea seems kind of used a lot but I've gotten some feedback from my friends who think it is a good idea so I wanted to see what other people thought. So here is my idea, I want to start a website that focuses on entertainment news but also news around the world. I am a very knowledgeable person and I like to check websites like CNN, TV Guide, EW and Yahoo, but I have to go to different websites to check all these things. So I was thinking of combining these things into one website. I love to write so the writing part wouldn't be a problem in the beginning. I just don't know if there was an actual market for this type of website. My friends like to call it Vanity Fair but just for the younger set and more modern and fun. By the way, I'm a junior in college.

Great That your trying a start up but here is some advice that I faced when having a start up.
1. What Problem Are you Solving?

a. There Are Currently 90,500 monthly searches for " Entertainment News "
b. 26,900,000 websites Competition

2. The Way Popular Sites Are Generating Revenue Are By Advertising Modules.

Different Idea...
You would have to make like a review style site on youtube. You can add your own unique perspective on the news that you view. Thu this will be a challenge and will take your indepth market research of audience and what problem do you want to solve.

Remember it's about solving problems.

Thanks for the response. I understand that you have to solve a problem. I am an entrepreneurship major. The problem I thought I was solving was the fact that I have to go to 6 different websites every morning to get all the news that was relevant to me (I have 6 tabs that automatically open with my browser). The focus wouldn't just be entertainment news.

Maybe I could put my own spin on all the news stories, because a lot of friends think reading or even watching the news is boring. So if it was more entertaining to the younger set they would be more likely to read.

I don't know, I'm just throwing around the idea. If you have any other ideas please let me know.

The idea what you are talking is simple entertainment blog. so, get yourself wordpress or blogger and start to write articles. for hints and tips, you could join to bloggeries forum at Blog Forum - Bloggeries
When you have built your readship, then you can monetarize it from ads.
