    New business idea feedback

I have so many business ideas but I don't know if they can work or if the are worthy. I just found this forum so im gonna start sharing some to get some feed back from you guys.

This idea has to do with rebates. I know I hate waiting for my rebate in the mail. Is there anyservicea that offer instant rebates when some purchases an item that has a rebate ? I'd like to start something that people can get their money right away for a small fee and also get it in cash form. Please let me know what you guys think. Also is this the right forum to be posting my business ideas in?

    Thanks
    chris

So like a payday loan? Its a good idea but I think ud end up losing money. A lot of companies never get back to you with the rebate money and 99% of them come on debit cards.. so how do u plan on getting the moneyout of all of them?

Just my two cents, but when it comes to ideas that basically fill a need you are looking for, I will usually not weight my decision on whether or not to act on it because someone else may be doing it.

Take shipping for example. You probably will never ask yourself "Does anyone offer a service to transport a package from my house to another persons house?". This is because you know the USPS, FedEx and UPS already do this. So even if someone is already offering a rebate service, the fact you never heard of one before, and the fact this service applies to a broad and general audience, means that those providers are not doing a good job with their service or offering. Actually, if more than one person is out there doing this, that means it could be a good opportunity to compete and deliver something better and market it better.

Maybe not the feedback you're looking for, but something to consider since I know so many that will not pursue an idea because someone else is already doing it.

I actually like the idea Chris. It would have its obstacles of course, but I think it has interesting promise. I would make it something like - they snail mail/email/fax etc the documentation you would need to collect the rebate, and then you immediately pay them a smaller percentage of the rebate, 75-80% for example (upon verifying you actually have all the information you need to complete the rebate).

So basically, they get their money nearly immediately, but for a 20-25% commission.

Obstacles would be refunds and debit cards like mentioned above. But good idea, keep them coming.

One more obstacle may be that people try to submit fake Serial Numbers for product rebates. You'd need a way to weave out the bad crowd. I wouldn't take that problem lightly either because I guarantee you it'll happen with your first few customers.

This is a very interesting idea but I think the obstacles you would face would not be worth the time. These are just a couple of MY thoughts on this. Let me know what you think.

First most rebates I hear of are <$100, so the cut you would take would be around say $20. I think that the main challenge would be to get the rebate in your name. This would be tough due to the fact that you did not buy the merchandise yourself, therefore you would have to work with the manufacturer. Needless to say, they would be your main opposer since they bank on people not mailing in the rebates so it may be lots of run around. If you did take the "payday loan" route and the customer wrote you a check for say $120 and you paid them the $100 rebate up front, what happens if they default? What if the check bounces? Not all states will let you take these customers to small claims court, and if they did the attorney's fees would crush your mere $20 profit.

Again these are just my intial thoughts.
