Need Help! please read....

Hello all,

I have started a new Franchise Directory site recently. The site is raw at the moment. But I have some questions that I hope you can help answer. I have no franchise companies listed at the moment, but dont wish to approach these companies until I am confident enough to know the process and how it works.
Just so you know - it will be a pay-per-lead process for the franchises for me supplying them with potential franchisees.

I have the following questions:

1) Who do I contact in the franchises?
2) Do I have to form contracts with these franchises?
3) Did you think that I need to start off with small franchises first and work my way up?

It would be greatly appreciated if you would take the short time to get back to me at your leisure to answer these questions for me.

I would start with smaller franchises first because they are the ones that need to grown and would most likely pay for leads..
Do any well established franchises actually pay for leads, or are you trying to sell them a new product?

I think it's a good idea as long as companies are willing to pay

Start looking on Craigslist for people listing their businesses already. You can accept payments for listings via PayPal. Before they pay, you should set up a listing agreement page that they have to agree to (a Terms of Service).

First of all, F the online contracts. If you want to do this right go get a real attorney. They're worth their weight in gold (most of the time).

Second, get in touch with the franchises...probably someone in the business development dept, but I don't know...some may already pay firms for leads, some may not. You don't want a cookie cutter deal that they give to everybody where you're like an affiliate. Cut a special deal with them at a predetermined fee per lead. Have an attorney draw up the paperwork so you get everything in writing. Once the ball's rolling make sure you have a direct line in to a real decision maker at the company should you need anything. The customer service and franchise sale reps don't know shit.

Why go through all this trouble when you can probably sign up as an affiliate of some type? You want the franchises to know you're a real player and you're going to deliver for them. They'll treat you better...not like another one of their hundreds or thousands of affiliates.

You are probably very correct when it comes to the US. I am from Canada, and I have learned during my past two years here in Spain that if you want your business to fail, ask your Spanish attorney for his opinion on it. Or better yet, just ask him to write a contract for you.

Spanish attorneys, (the one's I've had the pleasure of working with) will write you a letter giving you a million reasons why you shouldn't do the deal. Absolute waste of time. Stick to your US attorneys.
