I find myself wondering what the next step in my education career should be. I have finished my MASc in Computer Engineering (technical and research based) and am looking to head into something more managerial / business geared. I have 5 years of industrial experience with the last 2 years being in a management role. I'm also writing my PMP this summer to gain some management knowledge.
What would you think the next educational step should be. There are many paths I could take so I'm curious as to what would be best value added to industry.
Pure Technical Path:
-----------------------------
Finish PhD in Computer Engineering following up on my Masters research.
Mixed Engineering / Business Path:
----------------------------------------------------
Do a PhD In Engineering Management (offered at some universities)
Do a EngD In Engineering Management (more course based; less research then PhD)
Pure Business Path
-----------------------------
Go right to a DBA (although I haven't heard many positive things / people who have it in industry)
Do a PhD In Business Administration / Management
Or take a lateral step from my current education and complete an MBA
Any options / comments are greatly appreciated;
Thank you,
