I'm Looking at this Franchise please advise

    Hi all,
I have been looking at starting a business firslty I wanted to start a website with bikini's like malibu strings kind of thing. but got stuck finding a pattern maker localy that could help me out.

So now I'm thinking a franchise they have done the hard work now i just need to buy in and operate.

gizmo.com.au is the franchise in question

I have made contact with the franchise and talked to the Franchise development mangager and asked many questions but i need to call him back and ask many more.

being that i have never owned and operated a business by myself before this is a risk.
to buy the franchise $30k to buy the vehicle - extra$$ but you would lease so not to much up front - for training in sydney - Extra$$$ and anything else $$$

the have 6 franchise's in australia and have been running over 3 years none have failed yet but its only been 3 years.

they stick to very basic computer issues and have set prices.
for each job i do they handle the money's and the phone calls and take a % from each job i do which is a bit high but workable.

before i go any further with any more details can anyone help me in reasoning why or why not this franchise?
any other franchise better then this one?
    any information would help cheers.

I'm currently employed full time contracting and have just gone for my interview for full time perminant and dont like my chances so im looking for a change of career or to be my own boss through own business or frachise.

I suggest you take more time looking for other franchise that offers the same niche you are interested. Maybe it's hard but it's the only way you could see other options and along the way you could find the right one. Even if the business is already successful it doesn't it's already good to franchise their brand and system.

You need to do some serious amounts of research before you settle on a franchise. One of the things you should look into is if the franchiser has a strong reputation and is personable. Another thing you should look at is if the franchise organization is financially healthy. Also Not all franchisors offer the same degree of assistance in starting a business and operating it successfully, be sure to find out if there is ongoing support.
