    let them choose between commission and base, but also but how much the base people are earning weekly up somewhere visible so the base people will want to make that and switch over to commission
    You can't achieve your goals if you don't take that chance so go pry open your trunk and take those amps.

    Give them a standard hourly base, then let them have commission.

    Now add bonuses once they hit so many sales per day or week (10, 15, etc. I don't know how many sales is average or great in your business).

    Then tell them if they are consistently not making the minimum, they can join the crowd of the unemployed (that should motivate them).

    In all seriousness, commissions aren't everything. I used to work in sales that had a base+commission structure (where do you think I got my ^idea^ from) and I wasn't really that motivated at all.

    I feel that if you add little bonuses like gift cards to stores/restaurants, that may help a little bit.

    ^^ what is a reasonable amount of commission if your in a business and the item sells itself and it's priced at around $12,000?

    it depends on your profit margin on that product.

    Base is a sure thing as long as you do the job. commision can make more money but you must be good at sales, commision is riskier but the reward usually is higher
