    Business Proposal

    Hey everyone,
My father is a medical doctor and currently runs a private practice where patients come to his business and have surgeries performed, babies delivered, etc. It is very successful and I’ve been trying to conjure up ways in which my brother and I can eventually take over the business and expand it even further. Neither of us have any interest in medicine, so becoming doctors and following his steps is not an option for us. However, we both are interested in business management, so is there a way (and would it be worthwhile) where we could take over the practice and work as executive officers? By that I mean hiring doctors to work for the practice, marketing the company, etc. Any advice helps, thanks.

What did your dad say about taking over the company? If he doesn't leave it to you guys for lack of your experience in the field of medicine, your plans are already doomed. My advice is to make sure that he is 100% going to leave the business to you and not a colleague or silent partner.

well the idea is that yes, he would leave the company 100% to us (obviously he would shadow us for awhile and possibly even continue working there while we learned the inner-workings of the business). In addition, my brother and I would be taking classes in healthcare administration, so we would know as much about the medical side as necessary, i believe, to run it properly.

Well while the idea is possible, something certain patients or health care centers run because of the doctors good reputation. It could so happen that if your doctors leave, they take a lot of your business with you. That is the only thing which you need to take care of. Rest can be managed.

    Hi,
If your father leave you the business. You are going to take it over the business that he try to managed....
So,if both of you have no interest in medicine...I think you can still be a part of that by managing this business and be employed.

Yeah, I agree with genevie. You can still part of managing the business you can help marketing your medical center to get more clients and I guess you also need at least learn something about medicine just like terminology so it wont be hard for to understand when they talk about it.
