Any ideas of where to find good intern talent?

We are Looking for un-paid quality interns.
We have looked into some local Universities and Colleges. But a lot of them are asking for 'paid' internship programs. Any input would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

If you want to find the good intern talent you can visit some of the talent agencies. This will support their clients pursuits to get them work on.They will involve first hand contact with their clients.

    KyleXY,

Not sure if you mean what type of tasks?

But, we are looking for interns to do market research, put together presentations, help with branding, etc.

try contacting the universities and colleges directly and maybe they can add you to the list of required interns some students are required to take depending on major and those are not paid.

How about some nominal pay. Our interns usually make $125 a week and they do jobs such as: technical manual writing, shipping and receiving parts, purchase order entry, video development and editing, mechanical engineers, etc.

We feel that someone who gets at least some money at least has the mindset that their is some value in their work. Also, it puts them to some standard of working for their worth.

We have also had success with local colleges and universities. The trick for us was getting to know professors directly and letting them communicate opportunities to students.

recruit strait from collages (many have job placement staff) and or collage intern-employement databases.

    Small Business

Students are always looking for a good internship, you will be able to get someone eager to help.Fair (although it'd be a good idea) - and then take an afternoon to interview. I wouldn't advise any intern to come and work at the company.

Hi guys, I am surprised that there are so many ways to attract talents in unpaid training why you guys are not discussing one of them. First you should try to make sure that you are giving something to them to which they can attract like giving them offer that you will be hired after this unpaid training in your company and they will get benefit of this practical training in other companies also when they will face interview in them. After giving such kind of offers you just need to place it on proper job portal or you may also use the advertisement section of newspaper. Do not forget to tell them how good reputation your company have in that field, no matter whether you have that or not and also this that how good this training can have influence over their career.

I think you may be stuck in a paradox between "unpaid" and "quality". I know it is an internship but unless you are bringing something to the table for the intern other than money all of the intelligent prospects are going to move down the line to the next opportunity that does pay.

I have had good luck hiring interns from local collages but we did pay them a little above minimum wage.
