Have a sales meeting everyday to not only educate but to pump them up. I also give my guys books to read (My favorite is the closer I & II by Ben Gay). Like any profession, to be good, salemen need to keep thier skills sharp.
You got it right Cole!! Keep having your daily meeting, it'll do you wonders

If you can sell your own product (and I know you can) it is 10 times easier to train sales people than to find "good" ones. "Good" salespeople are generally prima-donnas and seem to require more maintenance and cause more problems than if you bring a quality individual on and invest the time to make them a good sales person.

Hello:

Are you sure it's the sales people and not your; sales process, product marketing, leads, etc?

Are others in your industry/area doing fine? If so it may be time to adjust something. Are you giving qualified leads to your sales staff? Are you training your sales staff? Is your sales team working together to find what works? Is your sales manager tracking metrics to find patterns?

Hope this helps...

Nothing beats the people with the resume talking all about how they are the greatest salesperson ever and the first question out of their mouth is "so, is there any base salary?" I always wanted to ask them to get up and leave my office. SalesGod, you have the right attitude man. The true salespeople WANT straight commission and wouldnt have it any other way. If the pay structure is right, you cant set the salary high enough for them.
