How to flip domain names?

Can someone tell me how do people buy and sell domain names.

Someone creates a domain name registers it and sells it?

How do you register it?

Here is a step by step guide to buying sites and flipping...

1. You buy the domain, try to keep it as relavent. so if you are trying to make a site about fly fishing at night, keep the domain close to that. If you can, look at expired domains and dropped. Those tend to be really popular plus its beneficial in the long run.

2. Go to Estibot, and use their Ajax overture system, it works wonders plus it gives you an idea of whats out there. You can also use Wordtracker, that tends to be pretty accurate.

3. Before you jump into any new site, look for a bunch of factors. I wish I had thought of this when I first started but think about what people are getting into. What they are wanting/needing to know information on.

4. Untapped niches are hard to find but when you do find them, embrace them and maximize. What is an untapped niche? Its something that either has high volume searches and no advertisers. I know you are thinking, yeah right. Those don't exist anymore!

5. Add content, get a unique website theme going, try to use a good CMS and make the logo unique. I tends to work wonders than something you found and is free. If you have the cash flow, outsource, but remember you want to find a balance. Doesn't make sense to spend $80 to only sell it for $90.00...If you can do the work yourself for as little time, then you are ahead of the game.

6. Get traffic to the site. now here is where it gets tricky, you can sell it as is or with traffic so start marking how you are generating traffic, people will want to know..

7.time to sell, list it at sitepoint, it gets great traffic and its a good end result, if you are poor and all, go to a forum but be warned that you will deal with alot of cheapos, esp. at DP.

8. Good Luck!

Domain name flipping involves creating a site along with purchasing the domain name is that it?

here's what I understand:

1- I visit go godaddy.com, purchase a domain name Xxx.com
2- I then hold on to this site without creating any sort of website
3- Someone sends me an email regarding purchasing this domain name
4- Sell it for whatever I find a reasonable price.

In a nutshell is that basically what domain name flipping is?

Thats holding domains and hoping someone wants it, flipping sites means taking a site that has already been made and making it better, monetizing it.

Make it unique..

I wouldnt direct him to google, make the dude become defeated...

could have been nice to offer pointers, unless you have none; therefore maybe nothing should have been said by you.

You can use Search Engine Optimization to park the domains and then they also manage the sale transaction to ensure you are safe

If you're not sure about a domain, try domain tasting. Domain tasting - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You can learn a whole lot more about domains at NamePros.Com - Buy, Sell, & Discuss Domain Names (my personal favourite).

heres what made me $400 in the past 2 days:
-Search for "good" names (you are the judge)
-reg them for $7.15 @ godaddy (promo code OYH3)
-Start an ebay auction so that at worst case you break even
-Watch the $ roll in
Example: I rege'd DefeatCrime.com for $7.15, 6 days later sold it for $224.72
It's that simple
