    How much would you pay?

How much would you pay for a website for your business? What elements would you want included for the price you pay? As with anything, do you get what you pay for when it comes to website design?

What are your thoughts on the subject?

This depend on the layout, design and other stuff of the website, say if want a 2 page website then this can be created in INR 1000, if you go with more features with 50-60 pages then the page goes high accordingly. Now if you want to add payment term to your website then this will again change the pay for the website. If you go with an eCommerce website then this may cost you heavier where in you can add your multiple products as well.

It depends. For something as simple as just installing WordPress, I do that as a gig on Gigbucks. But if you want a more complex website with a lot of customization, I would charge a few hundred dollars.

sigmainfo is right, I have made websites for £97 all the way up to £10,000+ custom coding/features are what really jack up the price. If you want a basic 6 page template website then you can get one for under $500, but if you want a totally custom content management system then you could be looking at thousands.

I'm a cheap bastard so in my case I won't pay for much to start a business. That being said if you can build high quality sites, I'm sure there's a market for people who need more than I do. I'm guessing you're facing a situation where its important to pair your technical skills with someone who legitimately NEEDS your approxiamate level of skill. Don't try scraping the bottom of the barrel to pick up clients who don't know they're doing. Likewise don't command a ridiculous price where you can't deliver on quality. In either case the market will squeeze you out eventually. Price yourself intelligently based on what you see out there in the marketplace for the same level of service you provide and can legitimately deliver. Study the hell out of your competition and get a few quotes from them yourself. Use your exisitng clients to gage whether they felt they got what they paid for or more.... Good luck!

Now that is quite a loaded question -- there are so many variables to consider -- for example, purpose, content, features, maintenance ... and the corresponding services that I would want my designer to undertake (need images, copywriting, seo, social media integration etc.) Plus I might want a full turnkey -- hosting, domain registration etc.

I woud want to work with somebody who had experience in my industry. So if I'm a hairdresser or salon I want to see what the design team/person has done for other clients.

    Cheers,
    Carole.

It entirely depends on what you want. Building a website from scratch is more expensive but the best option in my opinion because you increase your SEO and give your a site a more professional look however it has its downfalls like having to edit content if the developer didn't put any simple content management tools in place.
